01
Start with the person, not the service label
Write down what is becoming difficult, what the person wants to keep doing independently and what a good week would look like. Include routines, mobility, medicines, meals, companionship, night-time needs and any clinical support. A provider should ask enough questions before proposing a package.
02
Check regulation, scope and professional evidence
In England, check the provider’s current CQC registration and the regulated activities relevant to the proposed care. Ask whether the specific need falls within scope and how staff competency is assessed.
- Confirm the legal provider and CQC location
- Ask who assesses and reviews the care
- For complex needs, ask who provides clinical oversight
- Check safeguarding and out-of-hours arrangements
03
Compare continuity and communication
Ask how care professionals are matched, how many people are likely to form the regular team and what happens during sickness or leave. Agree who receives updates, how concerns are escalated and how often the care plan is reviewed.
04
Understand the complete price
Compare visit length, minimum booking, bank-holiday charges, night arrangements, double-up care, clinical oversight and notice terms. Care Circle visiting care starts from £24 per hour with a minimum one-hour visit; the final quotation follows assessment.
